Guidance and counseling is recognized as an essential service in the educational program of the school. It is the objective of guidance and counseling to ensure all students are provided services necessary to aid them in attaining appropriate personal/social, educational, and career/vocational goals. Students who are in need of special help must receive it, but the guidance program cannot just concentrate on the special population. The guidance program must strive to offer opportunities and experiences in conjunction with the overall school program from which all students may benefit. Inherent to the program is a belief in the unique capabilities of each individual, in the ability of all people to grow and learn, and in the dignity and worth of ever student. the guidance and counseling program at Sheffield High School is based on the premise that guidance is a life-long continuous process beginning with pre-school and continuing throughout one's lifetime.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Guidance Department of Sheffield High School is to provide a comprehensive range of services designed to support the school's instructional programs. This provision of services is based on the assumption that certain educational, vocational, and personal objectives are obtainable when guidance for all students is provided. The goal of the guidance department is to assist students to develop in three key learning areas:
